Hello, here’s Sing for Darfur in one minute!
We know you are busy. And we realise you have so much more to do than reading this website. Sorry to grab a minute of your attention, but this is exactly what Sing for Darfur is about.Let’s tell you first what it isn’t: it’s not a documentary. It’s not shot in Darfur. It’s not something you ‘ve seen before. It’s a feature film, shot in Barcelona, where we follow in a quick pace lots of different people, most of them very busy with themselves, on the day of a special occasion: an international pop concert to help the people of Darfur: Sing for Darfur. The film raises questions like: do we still have time to care, why are we so indifferent, do we still have feelings to care for our fellow humans in Darfur – the greatest humanitarian catastrophe in the world according to the UN - or is it only part of our lives when it suits us. Shot in black&white with music from bands like Underworld, The Cure, Yoko Ono and a very, very unexpected ending with a song of Spanish folk singer Luis Llach.Sing for Darfur is a non-profit project. The idea was born in spring 2007 by a group of Dutch and Spanish filmmakers who tried to create something meaningful, which hopefullyhelps raise some awareness about ‘us’ and Darfur. It was shot in the autumn of 2007 with the help of a lot of international actors and is just finished, all done as quick as possible to get the message out.Any money raised will be given by the foundation Sing for Darfur to Sudanese filmmakers to make films about their own situation. Please, have a look at the trailer and thanks for reading this and your support.Trailer
